Community Food Shelf
Food shelf use by people in our community is an unfortunate and necessary reality. When families face serious economic challenges, their income after paying the bills may not stretch far enough for food. If you or someone else you know needs help supplementing their food budget, you can turn to two community food distributions for assistance.
Passing the Bread Food Distribution
Passing The Bread Food Distribution is a monthly food distribution available when you need food for yourself or your family in your home. It is available for residents that live in the 55398 or 55371 zip codes only. Bring a photo ID or current utility bill with your name on it to the 4th Saturday each month from 9a.m. to 11a.m. The distribution center is at 26833 5th St W in Zimmerman. It is located inside the UMA Precision Machining building. Look for the sign on the entry door at the north side of the building. Faith Pantry
This unique food shelf is different than most as it is a first come, first serve, where you basically have the opportunity to "go shopping" and pick your own food. There are no questions asked, no screening, and no forms to fill out. ALL ARE WELCOME! They encourage those who need assistance or have been turned away from other agencies to please stop by.
They currently receive food donations from several local grocery stores. Items you may see include a wide variety of pies, breads, baked goods and produce. Food is limited and goes very fast so you may want to arrive early. From the Heart is open on Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Faith Community Lutheran Church, located at 12266 255th Ave NW, Zimmerman, MN.
